SUNDBY SCHOOL
150 years ago
Ekerös very first schoolbuilding was built on a site donated by the count of Stavsund.
The building was finished in 1847. The classroom, the teacher's kitchen and one more room were located on the groundfloor. There was one room for the midwife.
During the first schoolyear there were 91 pupils registered, but many pupils often stayed at home, fortunately.
In order to get the pupils to go to school in the winter they were served warm soup.
In 1874 there were plans fot an extension, but the local education board thought the space was good enough as there were only 64 pupils this year.

Today we have 157 pupils in 6 classes.
The original building from 1847 today contains room for the staff and expedition. One building contains gym and handicraft. As well as there are three buildings with classrooms and rooms for leisure.
We plan to build more during this year. Among others, our lunchroom will be expanded and combined with the library and computer facilities.
